Benbo update(s)

With Chapter 1 online,
and the second chapter going live next month on 5 May.

i had the idea to pitch a new benbo story to magazines that are 'Benbo minded' (as in Weapon / Gun magazines)

as of yet i contacted 1 magazine, and they where keen on the idea,
telling me they had that same proposition before, but those guys wanted to do a continuous story line not knowing it was a magazine that comes out once every two months.

originally i wanted to do a story that had a beginning and an end for a magazine,specially for a magazine that comes once every blue moon.

now i'm done with 2 of the "Benbo EXTRA's"
and i am going to pitch them this week to that magazine, and see what comes out of it.

one thing i can tell you,
the production of the benbo extra's is more difficult than the on-going series,
why i don't know, probably because i'm restricted in a sertain ammount of space, and i can make the regular series as long and filled with detail as i want in one chapter.

Though i hope the magazine will pick it up.

Almost forgot to mention this in the Blog,

durring the "Stripdagen" gorinchem 2013,
i got visited by 2 dudes on the last day of the CON,
telling me they were from the J-pop foundation

and wanted to buy my book, to let it run at the 'Dutch Manga Awards'
i was all to glad to sell it to them.

Time go's by, meanwhile i got my book placed on the shelves at my local comicbook store..

two days ago (23april) When a friend Apped my with the question 'what's the word on the award ceremony?' i told her, 'dunno, i'll mail them in to morning'.

after saying that, i directly got a mail.. Telling me, i got through the first round. and was invited to come to the awards on 31 May 2013..

How about them beans.


Don't know about you guys.. but i can't wait for it.

With chapter I nearing the end and the second coming right after,
i whipped up this poster just for that occasion. 

i'm placing it on my facebook and twitter acounts to get even more attention to new readers, hoping to get a few more of them after last weekend at the comic con in gorinchem.

The SGTBENBO banner got it's fair share of attention, i mean, the thing almost reached the ceiling, so you could see it across the room... which is cool!

Comicon "De Stripdagen" 9 and 10 march in Gorinchem!

Good news!

Moon-Toons and SGT BENBO

will be attending the 'comicon' de stripdagen in Gorinchem on the 9th and 10th of march. it will be our first official convention and we are stoked about it.

The first printing of the graphic novel "Follow The Norm" will be on sale there with a few boomerang cards aswell..

Hopefully when the first chapter of SGT BENBO is online that first chapter will be in print form aswell and for sale online and at conventions aswell.

The ending of the second chapter is in sight, so where bussy hard at work

Chapter II of SGT BENBO in the works

With the weeks going by, and that go's faster as one might think,
i already started work on the second chapter on the adventures of SGT BENBO a little while back, 

with the first 6 parts done and done. I have two more to color, and then draw out and ink, the scripts that i did when the site went live for the first time.

those sketches of the benbo comic i make in a dummy book, usually i sketch on a blank peace of paper, but with this series and with the Follow The Norm series i found out that it is way easyer to draw sequentials in a book.

Now with the first book done last year and now the second one going well, because of that the dummybook is full, i need to get another one specially for SGTBENBO.. this is on my to do list, after i finished this remaining batch.

I hope that when the first chapter is done,
there is enough interest to realy print a book, (on my own or maybe there is a publisher that sees fit to print the book) any case i would love to see Benbo in stores world wide..  just aslong i make the desisions on every little step in the process, i already have the template and in what format / size the book must come, it's a cool format to boot.. 

At the 'stripfestival breda' i've let people see the first chapter, in book form.
(the webcomic wasen't live before then, after that i got anctious to get it live)
but reactions of people that seen the book where so positive, that it made me feel good.  so i'm sticking with it.. (even if no one got my vision..i still would've stuck with it, but nonetheless, it's nice to know other people can get behind my work and in wich mold i put things)  i'm not that much of an outcast afterall ;) 


tomorrow i'll color the two remaining strips,
and probably start with the first two scripts in the book that lay before me.
