Stripfestival Breda (15 & 16 Oktober) 2016

Aanstaande weekend (15 en 16 Oktober)
is het weer feest in Breda, waar het stripfestival weer word gehouden.

Moon-Toons zal ook weer van de partij zijn, dit keer met de introductie van Roland Moonen's nieuwste en waarschijnlijk tevens grootste project, genaamd: "The Little freak"

Een avonturen reeks met humor en een kloddertje horror!

Ontsproten uit een schets gemaakt tijdens een stripbeurs in Gorinchem in 2014 wat uitgroeide tot een compleet verhaal, waar het scripten een jaar in beslag nam en ondertussen is deel 1 gedrukt en zal zijn opwachting maken tijdens de 2016 editie van het stripfestival waar het boek te koop zal zijn.

Reason why i use filters when uploading my content on social media

Next to filtering original photographs i take of my work i tend to place my Moon-Toons logo where ever i can to make sure it's in the picture, so people can see where it came from. If it's a picture taken from an actual page, or if it's digitally rendered, i stick my logo up there, next to signing the piece itself..

Hearing from colleagues, that upload their unaltered artwork, with no filters, no logo, hardly their autograph and then letting everybody know that some one  stole their work from their site with no mention of the original artist.. i get why one uploads they're work, specially when it looks awesome,  but i'd like to skip the strangers are stealing my work stadium..
I'll take a picture of my work, with my logo in the frame, upload it to instagram pick a filter, next to that filter i blur the picture enough so people can still see what's going on and what work i created, but it's no longer desirable to steal for other people, seeing it has my name and logo on it and over that a few filters..

I know it takes a whole lot out of the art work by doing this, but i hear a lot of nasty things happening to artists, to Indy artists, and big names, that work for big companies, seeing my life is in my characters, and i'd HATE to see something happened to what is my life's work ending up in to the hands of lifeless gutter trash that may or may not take credit for something that they didn't do. i'll take the filtered road, thank you very much..

Moon-Toons opzoek naam Adverteerders voor huidige #Stripboekenreeks 'The LittleFreak'

Sorry guys and gals this one is for the dutchies.

Beste stripliefhebbers, lezers, Moon-Toon fans en zakenlieden met een affiniteit met comics, strips en illustreren.

Zoals u mogelijk heeft kunnen op vangen, heeft Roland Moonen een nieuw project om handen, een project wat 425 pagina’s op het moment telt. Waarvan de eerste 21 afgelopen donderdag een test print van gemaakt is. (look’s good!)

Het boek heeft een “Amerikaans comic book” formaat ( of zal ik voor het gemak Donald Duck formaat zeggen?) Met 36 pagina’s, naast de strip hebben we de bedoeling om er advertenties in te plaatsen zodat we die 425 daadwerkelijk kunnen drukken wanneer de pagina’s gereed zijn (uitgewerkt, ge inkt en gekleurd).

Op het moment zijn de eerste 21 pagina’s van de strip gereed, waarna de rest volgt. De strip heeft nu op het moment stof voor 21 delen te omvatten. Waarna het tweede gedeelte van het verhaal zich zal vervolgen om er aan het al omvattende verhaal een eind aan te brijen. Dus we kunnen nog even door gaan.

Zoals reeds vermeld is de eerste test gedrukt, waar mogelijke verdere aanpassingen gedaan zullen worden.

Voor we de uiteindelijke boeken zullen drukken, zijn we nu opzoek naar adverteerders.

Adverteerders die in the Little freak willen en kunnen adverteren met hun reclame,
we hebben plaats voor de volgende formaten:

Een advertentie die de volledige pagina in beslag neemt zijn: 34x51
Pagina waar de advertenties in een 2 blok is ingedeeld zijn: 34x25
Pagina waar de advertenties in een 3 blok is ingedeeld zijn: 34x16
Pagina waar de advertenties in een 4 blok is ingedeeld zijn: 16x25
Pagina waar de advertenties in een 6 blok is ingedeeld zijn: 16x16

De prijzen per advertentie formaat, daar word aangewerkt. Vragen daar over graag via de mail van uit het contact formulier op www.Moon-Toons.nl.We geven uw reclame graag een plaats!

Het meest ideale zijn we opzoek naar particulieren en bedrijven die open staan om voor al de 21(+) delen kunnen adverteren, (maar we zijn flexiebel). Mocht u geïnteresseerd zijn schroom niet, en stuur een mail met als onderwerk ‘TLF adverteren’.

StripFestival Breda 11 & 12 Oktober 2014!

Het is weer zo ver, het StripFestival Breda komt er weer aan!

Moon-Toons is natuurlijk ook weer aanwezig, dit jaar neemt Roland naast zijn Sgt.Benbo & FollowtheNorm boeken ook enkele Moon-ToonTribute prints mee een eerste set is enige tijd geleden samen gesteld met characters die de maker een warm hart toedraagt, Van Turtles illustraties, tot Zorro en alles er tussen.

De Stripdagen Gorinchem [8 & 9 Maart]

De stripdagen komen er weer aan, en moon-Toons zal dit keer ook weer van de partij zijn!

8 en 9 Maart is het beursgebouw in Gorinchem weer afgehuurd voor twee volle dagen strips, comics graphic novels en andere benamingen voor een en het het zelfde.


Roland Moonen zal zijn boeken singeren op tafel 283
Naast het genomineerde Follow the Norm, wat in 2013 verscheen,
zal hij nu ook de eerste twee hoofdstukken van zijn Sgt. Benbo serie in de verkoop hebben.

Naast zijn officiele uitgaves, zal hij natuurlijk ook aan commissies werken voor de gene die daar interesse in hebben, en zullen volledige pagina's te koop zijn uit follow the norm die gebruikt werden tijdens zijn FTN expositie vorig jaar.


hoe dan ook, zullen het 2 mooie stripgevulde dagen worden voor jong en oud!

Benbo Books chapter 1 & 2 are in !!

This teusday the test prints arrived, after these got checked for any flaws and errors the updated books went to the printers! Well, this afternoon on a friday the postman came by and had a package for me.

The first run of the chapter 1 and 2 of Roland Moonen's Sgt. Benbo series!
Just numbered the first run, (yes, Roland numbers his first prints of his series all of the by hand personally)

Just in time for Moon-Toons's first Comic convention in Belgium,
we hope that these books and ofcourse Follow the Norm#1 will go like hotcakes!!

In the Month October Moon-Toons is quite busy.

at the moment we have 1 sure thing coming up at the begining of october at the "Kunst & Kadootjes beurs" in Drunen.

Next to that, we are working on to get ourselves in the "Stripfestival Breda" on the 26 & 27 October.


Plus we got asked to come join the fun in Belgium at the "Stripbeurs hamme"
on 19 & 20 October.


The last two cons, are still a work in progress. still need to iron out the kincks if you will.

"Striptekenaars Gezocht Voor Nieuw Stripblad"

Ik wil het liever niet doen, maar ik ontkom er niet aan,

Dit keer ook in het Nederlands.. Waarom?
omdat niet alleen Amerikanen de profiteur willen uithangen, 
ons kikkerlandje is er net zo goed schuldig aan!
Als fan van MR. Stephen Silver volgt Moon-Toons zijn stappen,
niet alleen dat we zijn werk subliem vinden, maar zijn boodschappen zijn correct.

 Na zijn kruistocht voor de moedeloze artiesten, voel ik mij net zo goed aangesproken. Als bedrijven, instanties en mensen die een artiest nodig hebben voor een project waar mee ze bezig zijn... Maar ze willen er absoluut NIET VOOR BETALEN!

Na een profiel aan gemaakt te hebben op een NL stripforum en zodoende wat rond gekeken te hebben, stuite ik op een post van iemand (ik zal zijn naam achterwegen laten, ga hem niet promoten natuurlijk)
met de volgende tekst er in:

De beste wensen voor 2013!
Een nieuw jaar met goede voornemens.
Mijn voornemen is om een nieuw digitaal stripblad op te zetten in full-color. De eerste aanzet is bij deze gedaan. Uiteraard zoek ik nog (hobby) striptekenaars die op non-profit (onbetaald) basis hieraan mee willen werken. Lijkt het je wel leuk om sowieso aan het blad mee te werken en je werk te laten publiceren en te verspreiden kijk dan op mijn site (onder constructie).

Dit geheel wordt vanuit niet-commercieel oogpunt gedaan, en er zijn dus geen vergoedingen.

Zoals je dan mogelijk kan begrijpen Worden we van dit soort lui best moedeloos, als je dit soort oproepen tegen komt, van een iemand, die mensen dan vraagt hun tijd en geld ergens in te steken, maar er niets voor terug krijgt.. Ze vragen ook wel om 'hobbyisten' juist dat ze hun 'no pay' beleidt extra kunnen door voeren.

Dit soort praktijken zorgen er voor dat mensen blijven denken dat het illustratieve VAK totaal niet serieus word genomen.. En zodoende ook wij als professionals het zwaarder te verduren krijgen bij nieuwe klanten.
Ik vind het mooi dat stephen amerika voor zijn rekening neemt wat betreft het volk wakker maken, zodat ze hun werk NIET GRATIS WEG GEVEN in ruil voor mooie verhalen van grote bergen met geld, door de publiciteit die ze er voor terug krijgen, ik begreep het heel goed wat hij probeerde te doen, en snapte het. maar nu ik dit hier letterlijk ook op een NL stripforum tegen kom,

voelde ik me toch heel erg geneigt om die zelfde verantwoording te dragen zoals MR Silver, maar dan voor Nederlandse artiesten.


Dus alsjeblieft, jongelui met grote dromen als striptekenaar,
geloof de mensen niet die je mooie beloftes doen van publiciteit inruil van jou werk, het enige wat ze doen is jou ideeen jatten, jou lijnwerk gebruiken, en NIEMAND die je naam er voor in de plaats zal onthouden!

als je hoogwaardig werk levert,
en je hart en ziel in je werk stopt, dan mag je daar wat voor vragen..

Als die mensen zonodig GRATIS werk willen, 
waarom maken ze het zelf niet, als dat alles zo gemakkelijk is?

Oh wacht, zo makkelijk is het toch niet?!
je stijl, je ideeen, je figuren zijn wel degelijk iets waard, en dat weten die profiteurs, laat ze dus niet van jou profiteren!

our first interview on Follow The Norm #1 of the previous week, is in today's newspaper, two of them to be exact -the "de maasroute' and 'De heusdense courant"

So, very happy with that..
The only thing i don't like as much, is that their calling it a 'manga' trilogy
and it's not a manga.. other than that it's a great interview

on to tonight,the official opening for invited busines relations at 'theater De Leest' trying to give my book a bit more attention..

The road to the EXPO [ Theater De Leest ]

We'll after the books is finished

the road to the first exposition for Follow The Norm is the easy fun part..

Step #1:

Duplicate your original pages in their original A3 format:

Check..



Step #2:
Get yourself some MDF and cut it up to the right size:
Check..

Step #3:

Paint the sides.. Rightah circle, leftah circle, Up, Down..
Check..

Step #4
Deliver the first glue coating, and let it all soak in.
Check..

Step#5

After it is soaked in and dried up, place the seacond coating and place the pages on to the surface, and let it dry up so the lumps are gone:

Hang up the pages with the system you like to use.

First expo for Follow The Norm will be on 30-05-2013 at Theater De Leest..

Benbo update(s)

With Chapter 1 online,
and the second chapter going live next month on 5 May.

i had the idea to pitch a new benbo story to magazines that are 'Benbo minded' (as in Weapon / Gun magazines)

as of yet i contacted 1 magazine, and they where keen on the idea,
telling me they had that same proposition before, but those guys wanted to do a continuous story line not knowing it was a magazine that comes out once every two months.

originally i wanted to do a story that had a beginning and an end for a magazine,specially for a magazine that comes once every blue moon.

now i'm done with 2 of the "Benbo EXTRA's"
and i am going to pitch them this week to that magazine, and see what comes out of it.

one thing i can tell you,
the production of the benbo extra's is more difficult than the on-going series,
why i don't know, probably because i'm restricted in a sertain ammount of space, and i can make the regular series as long and filled with detail as i want in one chapter.

Though i hope the magazine will pick it up.

Almost forgot about this...

Almost forgot to mention this in the Blog,

durring the "Stripdagen" gorinchem 2013,
i got visited by 2 dudes on the last day of the CON,
telling me they were from the J-pop foundation

and wanted to buy my book, to let it run at the 'Dutch Manga Awards'
i was all to glad to sell it to them.

Time go's by, meanwhile i got my book placed on the shelves at my local comicbook store..

two days ago (23april) When a friend Apped my with the question 'what's the word on the award ceremony?' i told her, 'dunno, i'll mail them in to morning'.

after saying that, i directly got a mail.. Telling me, i got through the first round. and was invited to come to the awards on 31 May 2013..

How about them beans.


Don't know about you guys.. but i can't wait for it.

With chapter I nearing the end and the second coming right after,
i whipped up this poster just for that occasion. 

i'm placing it on my facebook and twitter acounts to get even more attention to new readers, hoping to get a few more of them after last weekend at the comic con in gorinchem.

The SGTBENBO banner got it's fair share of attention, i mean, the thing almost reached the ceiling, so you could see it across the room... which is cool!
